My husband and I are huge fans of REBBL® protein drinks. But they are so expensive, that I can’t justify buying them all the time. So in my typical fashion, I thought “I’m not gonna pay a lot for that thing!” and decided to reverse engineer my own recipe. Here’s what I came up with…

Chocolate Protein Drink

(makes 5 x 12oz servings)

Combine the following ingredients in a blender:

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 can coconut milk (go for BPA free, Trader Joe’s is good value)
  • 1/3 cup cacao powder
  • 2/3 cup pea protein
  • 1 Tbs vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp Xanthan gum (optional thickener)

For sweetener, pick your favorite such as coconut sugar, monk fruit, xylitol, maple syrup, or even 2 bananas.

Mix ingredients in blender, and pour into clean storage bottles. Shake well before drinking, as the protein tends to form a delicious sludge at the bottom.

For optional flavor additions, add cardamom, cinnamon, rose water, or peanut powder.

You could also add “superfoods” like maca, ashwagandha, or reishi, to make it more like the original recipe.

P.S. I’m not a vegan personally, but thought that I would add it to the title, in case it’s a search keyword that would be helpful.
